Tovek Tools release notes

This is a complete list of new features, bug fixes, and improvements as they were added to Tovek Tools. Some of the more cryptic notes are either very obscure technically or related to specific customers' requirements and so there is no need to worry about them.

• Query Editor now supports the <In> operator.
  
• Index Manager allows inclusion of all extensions for the indexing, a *.* equivalent.
  
• A possibility to store user settings in the user profile has been added, as a Type2 multiuser configuration. For more information please contact the technical support.
  
• Tovek Agent: a possibility to launch an external program with a selection of the result list, plus a shared list of saved queries.
  
• Changed processing of empty queries for a better integration with ts5x.
  
• Tovek Harvester has slight changes in the user interface.
  
• The correct version of PDF filter, supporting specification up to 1.7, is now part of the installation.

• Tovek Harvester is now part of the installation.
  
• InfoRating: fixed problem with wrong font during printing on some computers.
  
• Fulltex Plugin: fixed problem with searching after the VLang field has been added to the internal result list fields.

• The TT menu in the system tray now shows only applications that are included in the user's licence file. Entry for the Harvester has been added to the menu as well.
  
• Tovek Agent: New command for the Harvester Export in the Tools menu. Previous test settings - app name and window class - in the InfoRating export have been removed.
  
• VLang field is now being included in the result list as a hidden field, if not selected by the user, in order to have its information ready for processing UNI locale documents. Contents of this field is also sent to the InfoRating during export.
  
• Fixed problem with wrong icons used for documents retrieved using a permanent query (local sources only).
  
• Detailed Clustering options in Tovek Agent can be localised now.

• Html export, changed steps 2 and 3 of the Export Wizard. There are now three separate options, for specifying custom caption of the report, the caption size, and the configuration file with report settings. All these three settings are optional. Furthermore, in the custom report header there is a new substitution string that can be used as a placeholder for the actual report banner, and the string is <!-- %TTReportCaption% --> Then in the caption text you can also use three similar placeholders, {%DateWL%}, {%DateWS%}, and {%DateTT1%}, which will be replaced by the current date in the Windows Long Date format, Windows Short Date format, and the tt default date format (YYYY-MM-DD). hdr[N]: shortcut from the previous versions of Tovek Tools is no longer supported. For more information please contact technical support.
  
• Tovek Agent: In the Tools/Options there is now a possibility to show more options for document clustering. When turned on (and after a restart of Tovek Agent) the settings are shown among the other search properties.
  
• Tovek Agent, marking documents in Query In Time plus other exports fix: When no documents were selected in the result list but some documents were marked for export, it was not possible to start any of the exports. Also documents marked in the Query In Time window has not been exported properly sometimes.
  
• Installation has been changed so that it now tries to create vdk licence file during the setup, possibly avoiding the problem with insufficient user rights to do this during the actual startup of Tovek Tools.
  
• In the installation there is now included a test version of the tt Workgroup Server. For more information, including the test licence, please contact Tovek.

• New type of authentification, Windows Security/SSPI, added for the Tovek Server v. 5.x
  
• Tovek Agent: Fixed problem with characters shown using wrong encoding in the Document Info word list.
  
• Multiple Documents Export: Works now also in Unicode for Unicode documents.
  
• InfoRating Export: Even if documents are in unknown language they can now be properly imported, after manually specifying which language to use. If there is a VLang field in the result list, Uni locale documents take a hint from its value.
  
• Fulltext Plugin fix: It now correctly works with TS 5.x sources.
  
• Fulltext Plugin: Shows Unicode documents in the viewer also in Unicode.
  
• Index Manager: When creating a TS 5.x source the login window is brought up and should have a keyboard focus.
  
• PDF Filter now supports PDF specification up to version 1.7. If the already indexed PDF documents are now shown with wrong hilites it is recommended to reindex them, as the new PDF filter shows the filtered text slightly differently.
  
• Showing of the server certificates when running on Windows Vista has been fixed.
  
• Information coming from _Tovek_ dir in collections on the Tovek Server v. 5.x is now processed.
  
• About boxes has been slightly changed.

• Options for connecting Tovek Server v. 5. can be specified in Index Manager when creating a new source. Server certificates are also shown for accepting by the user. S1 test syntax from the previous release is no longer supported.
  
• Fixed options for HTML Export in InfoRating.
  
• Internal processing of UTF8 in tt has been unified.
  
• New release of WASP libraries used (v. 6.5); modified location of folders with XML settings, and the way SRC files are loaded.
  
• Purge source option has been added to the command line switches of TvkSrc.exe

• Added support for searching against Tovek Server v. 5. Sources are created the same way for all versions of the Tovek Server and only the server address is required to make a connection. Additional parameters can be entered in the Server Name field, in this release; for more details please contact technical support.
  
• Numbers extraction: Detected numbers are shown in the viewer using a different - less prominent - color. This color can be changed and it is a new property of the text styles.
  
• The setup uses a newer compression engine with better compression ratio.

• Tovek Agent: Query in Time (Ctrl+Q) window has been changed and is now complete.
  
• InfoRating: Filtering of documents to be included in charts has been slightly revised.
  
• Numbers extraction: Updated setting for zone processing which now includes three options: Off, On, and On plus the numbers extraction. The last option fills data into the TVKNUM1 zone and inserts detected numerical strings into document texts as well.
  
• Html export: It is now possible to insert custom report caption into the standard reports, using the hdr[N]: shortcut. For more information please contact technical support.

• Tovek Agent: Ctrl+Q pressed when working in the result brings up a test version of a graph showing document scores in time. It needs at least one date field to be included in the result list.
  
• InfoRating: One more filtering option has been added, to allow more precise control over which documents will appear in charts. It can be activated by a new button in the main toolbar.
  
• Numbers extraction: There is an option to try to extract numbers from the indexed documents so that the numbers can be more easily found using regular searching or searching in a zone called TVKNUM1. This can be turned on using the Zone setting in the Index Manager, which now includes one more option. This feature is a test only at this time and it's possible that it will be changed later.
  
• Fixed problem with list box scrolling on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

• Tovek Agent: New command View/Search Time Info showing how long individual parts of a query took and what is the progress of the delivery of remote documents. Values can be copied from this window, but if some of the documents are marked as restricted the list is copied in the TT restricted format only.
  
• Tovek Agent: Two new fields, TT Server Name and TT Group of Sources, showing where a given document is coming from.
  
• Tovek Agent: The result list context menu now contains all the export commands.
  
• Tovek Agent: In the result when only grouping rows are selected they can be copied into the clipboard; the format is just a text, not a tab-separated format.
  
• Tovek Agent: Search progress bar can now show two values, one for the general progress and the second one based on the number of documents. The second value is shown only if there is a marked difference in the two values.
  
• Tovek Agent fix: Sources count in the Sources tabs are displayed correctly.
  
• Status monitor: When a new error is added to the log, the background of the system tray icon changes. It reverts to its original color after either opening the status window, pressing the Log button, or deleting all error messages from the log.
  
• Index Manager: When connecting a Tovek Server it is not required to enter a server name - a server address is sufficient.
  
• Tovek Server: Compressed data format used for communication with the server, allowing faster data transfer. Works only with the Tovek Server version 3.80/build 462 and above.
  
• Tovek Server: Changed the way the data sockets are closed from the client. Also when a server cannot be connected during a search, the whole search is aborted and the user is notified.
  
• Fulltex Plug-in for Analyst's Notebook: Changed icons for Tovek Tools entities used in newly created charts.
  
• InfoRating: Copy command makes it possible to transfer objects into Analyst's Notebook, where they have to be inserted by TT InfoRating Import command/from Clipboard.
  
• InfoRating: Progress dialog is shown when a chart preparation takes long time; also possible to display a current snapshot of the chart.
  
• InfoRating: Menu commands Increase/Decrease Score Treshold can be used with Shift key to change the value by one.
  
• InfoRating: File format has been changed, document texts are now stored in a compressed format.
  
• InfoRating fixes: Errors when multiple empty profiles were used; Problem on Windows XP if there was no printer installed and the installation wizard has been cancelled (also fixed in other TT applications); a problem with Date fields in User settings.
  
• Query Editor: Fixed problem with the edit window sometimes not fully shown on the screen.
  
• New internal setting, an option to use different directory for storing temporary bulk files.
  
• Possible to override default value for indexing document files by parts.
  
• Licensing: fixed problem when running on a Terminal Server 2003.

• Tovek Agent: Query progress indicator shows elapsed time as well.
  
• Tovek Agent: Selected and total source count is shown in the Sources tab.
  
• Tovek Agent: Ctrl+B shortcut shows how long individual query parts (such as coming from different servers) took to complete or what is their current status. Amount of information shown is slightly limited for older Tovek Servers.
  
• Information text messages specified on Tovek Servers are shown in Tovek Tools, after a search is run or a document text downloaded.
  
• When the TS/RSA logon window is shown and Shift+Cancel is pressed, Tovek Tools will not connect any Tovek Servers in the current session, ie until Tovek Tools is completely restarted.
  
• A problem with iteration when the query contained accented characters and has been run in OEM mode (ie Czech language queries running locally) has been fixed.
  
• XML filter changed, it now doesn't try to filter files resembling XML but not explicitly marked as such.

• InfoRating: Completely new application is described in the updated documentation.
  
• Query Editor: A new command Tools/Export Context for InfoRating sends subnodes of a selected node into the InfoRating, to be added to the list of current queries.
  
• Tovek Viewer now limits the width of the document text, especially on large screens. This feature can be turned off by the Unlimited Text Width command in the viewer context menu.
  
• MS Excel format filtering has been changed to process numbers differently; as a result, integers should now be presented more clearly.
  
• Tovek Tools Setup: The last step has been changed to include the option to start Tovek Agent.
  
• When using Tovek Tools under Windows Terminal Server and tt runs out of licences, it still can be started but doesn't have any active fulltext sources.
  
• Recent File List fixed in all TT applications.
  
• Applications' About boxes have been modified.

• Another test release, wiht InfoRating and updated CZ localisation.

• Test release with changes mainly to the InfoRating.

• InfoRating has been redesigned and here is a test version for your evaluation. Suggestions are welcome.
  
• Clipboard format for copying protected documents has been changed in order to support RTF.

• Html and text documents in UTF-8 charset are filtered according to the code page of a given locale.
  
• A change in the way tt communicates with Tovek Server which might solve some problems with queries failing to finish properly.
  
• One more option when creating an ODBC source: there is a possibility to add text around the document key when the SQL SELECT command is being constructed.
  
• When copying messages from Tovek Tools Monitor log window a new format is being used. Press <Shift> during copying to use the original format.
  
• Text of protected documents can be copied into the Tovek Agent query window, using internal clipboard format.

• When creating or connecting a fulltext source in Index Manager there is a check for accented characters in the collection path, with suggestion to use a short (MS-DOS) path name instead.
  
• Possibility to index documents into zones. Zone extraction can be turned on in the Index Manager and zones are marked using the following expression:
  <ZoneName> zone text </ZoneName>
  
• A knowledge base can be specified for all local collections. This is specified in the configuration files.
  
• Updated licensing information inside the applications.

• Exports of documents from Tovek Server: If some of the documents cannot be delivered due to network problems it is possible to send a new request for these documents. This is done in the Export progress dialog box by pressing a small refresh button that is shown in these cases after a small delay.
  
• ODBC indexing in Index Manager: Fixed problems related to FoxPro driver.
  
• Added settings for Hungarian language component by MorphoLogic.

• Agent: New option for displaying document score in the result list; default setting is the combined text and graphics.
  
• Agent: For long fields in the result list, such as the Summary, the tooltip contains more text shown in multiple lines.
  
• Agent: From the Query History dialog box it is now possible to select and delete multiple queries at once.
  
• Agent: Ctrl+L shortcut toggles a special mark in the result list. This can be used to mark one document, which remains marked for all subsequent searches within one Agent window, to remember a position within possibly changing fulltext collections. Also the way document icons are set has been changed so that the documents now remain in the same place in the result list no matter what icon they have.
  
• Agent, fix: When saving search defaults the full sort vector is stored now, and the way column widths are handled has been improved as well. Also there are various small enhancements and fixes for displaying and working with the result list.

• Agent: Documents indexed with regular slashes in the path instead of backlashes, such as C:/Dir/file.doc instead of C:\Dir\file.doc, usually cannot be opened by the shell. In this case another attempt is made to open them with the changed backslashes. This problem arises mostly with server collections indexed by mkvdk.
  
• Agent, the result list: Documents are sorted by multiple columns now. Sort order is determined by clicking the headings, the most recently used columns being those with the higher priority. The full sort order is saved into TQR files. There is also an option to display score in a graphical way instead of numbers only, as a test for this release - to enable it please contact the technical support.
  
• Query Editor: New command added for linking nodes with operator to another OTL file. This is the first step in enhancing the Query Editor to manage large topic sets efficiently.
  
• Query Editor: Fixed problem with replacing accented characters in topic names - standard replacement character is the underline and only if the default language of Tovek Tools is based on CP 1250 the enhanced replacement is made active.
  
• Fulltext Plug-in: Removed the iBase Export command due to incompatibility with the recent releases of iBase. Moreover, the InfoRating licence is now not required for any functions of the fulltext plug-in.
  
• Wizards in Agent and Index Manger, fix: When position of the window is changed, it no longer returns to the center of the screen in the next step.

• Setup: The way the Administrator privileges are determined has been changed. This should generate less false warnings about insufficient user privileges to run the setup.
  
• Query Editor: a simple extension API added, allowing to capture Save, Save As and Query Run commands. Possibility to store custom properties in the OTL files and to generate query string from the entire topic tree and store it inside OTL as well.
  
• Query Editor fix: Read-only OTL files were deleted when it was attempted to overwrite them using the Save As command.

• The fulltext plug-in: The Edit Query command adds default queries to multiple items selected in the chart. Query is based on the item label and optionally for document objects it can search for similar documents.
  
• Filters: New PDF filter, running internally in Unicode and with support of PDF 1.5 specification, and enhanced MS Excel filter with faster SST table processing. It is recommended to reindex collections with PDF and XLS files.
  
• Tovek Tools Setup checks for administrative privileges before starting the actual installation, and also better detects free available space on large disks.
  
• Greek CP 1253 added to filters, to the viewer, and to the locales.
  
• Fix in the Slovak locale (SK1250), it is recommended to purge and reindex collections using this locale.
  
• TS searching: Documents are requested in correct CP, but the default is still CP 1250 even for Western languages.
  
• ODBC: Fixed problem with fetching of long fields for indexing or viewing in the result list.
  
• Agent: Fixed problem with resources on Windows 98 when drawing the list of sources.
  
• Index Manager: Even one-page-long files are now indexed by pages which turns off page separators in the output text. If PDF files are indexed as one document, pages are separated by a short line consisting of hyphens.
  
• Query Editor: No longer performs automatic self-registration (caused problems with user privileges), but the -register switch on the command line will do it.

• Two new features of the fulltext plug-in: TT Browse Query command for precise selection of documents to be inserted into a chart, and the option to specify a date field for the fulltext documents, allowing them to be used in the timeline charts. The latter feature works only in the Analyst's Notebook version 6.
  
• Added Slovak locale for indexing and searching; directory name is SK1250.
  
• Added CP 1254 into Unicode filtering as a preparation for the Turkish locale.
  
• In the setup step when a licence is specified you can double click the area showing the lic info to obtain more information about the licence, including licensed components and licence dates. Also when this step is completed and the selected licence is not likely to work with the version of Tovek Tools currently being installed, user is presented with a warning and a list of possible problems.
  
• Setup program can dump information contained in a licence file into a text file using this command line syntax (all on one line): ttXXX.exe  /dumplic  LicFileIn  TextFileOut
  
• When a Tovek Server is being connected into the logs goes a new info message about the server version.
  
• Fixed problem with remote searching when a Tovek Server had a large number of collections in one database.
  
• Index Manager fix: When creating a new VDK or ODBC source and going back from Step 3 to Step 2, most of the data entered in the Step 2 were lost.
  
• Tovek Agent, Html/Xml Export Wizard fix: Edit boxes of the combo boxes could not scroll past the end of the window.

• Tovek Agent: Document Properties command from the result list brings up a slightly different dialog box, allowing you to copy all the actual properties.
  
• Tovek Viewer: Fixed an issue with marking documents for export while the document in the Tovek Agent result list has been in the collapsed part of the tree (only when the grouping by some field is On).
  
• LNP: Fixed the problem with disappearing context menu for viewing a document in Analyst's Notebook.
  
• Html filter fix: Improved processing of HTML tags.

• UI fix: All references to Link Notebook changed to Analyst's Notebook, which is the correct name for the current i2 product.
  
• UI fix: When a Tovek Server is not available, its source placeholder is called ts, not tb.
  
• Html filter fix: Entities entered as &#code; processed better, but with no support for the Unicode.
  
• InfoRating fix: After a clean install it was not possible to start InfoRating without creating a local collection first.

• Localisation: Hungarian UI localisation added.
  
• Html filter fix: Single ampersand in the html text is now treated properly and not skipped (together with some other text as well).

• Index Manager: Enhanced handling of ODBC information when creating a new ODBC source. IM_ODBC.dll now built by standard MSVC.
  
• ODBC: Possible to convert document files stored in database fields. For more info please contact the tech support.
  
• E-mail indexing: Indexing of email attachments has been slightly changed.
  
• Status Monitor: Faster refresh rate (300 ms v. 1 sec) and modified way for showing in-progress documents.
  
• K2: Now standard for K2 version 4.51, other versions upon request. But there is no ServerHierarchy API call in v. 4.51 so the list of servers might look different.
  
• Tovek Server: Fix for CR/LFs in queries for some versions of the TS.
  
• InfoRating: Allows loading queries from a previously saved IR-TXT file. Does not create a temporary source for the indexing. EXE file name is InfoRx3.exe. InfoRating Viewer writes out the same html export as TT Agent does, and uses the last settings from the Agent.
  
• AN Fulltex Plug-in: Export to the iBase database has been added.
  
• Query Editor: Added commands for arranging windows horizontally or vertically.

• Html export: Cross Matrix option implemented. Rank column headings in all document lists leads to the Cross Matrix, when present, even if this link is not underlined.
  
• Communication with Tovek Server: MFC default implementation of Winsock (MFCNxx.DLL) is no longer used - fix for problems on Windows 2000.
  
• Exports against TS should be faster: Documents are returned in batches instead of in one big packet; size of a batch is changeable. Also D and X flags for document permissions are taken into account.
  
• Restricted document text: Possible to restrict access to the text of documents, a per-source setting. Operations such as Copy, Print, Export, Save As, Drag&Drop, Copy List of Words are restricted. Can be turned on either by TS permissions (flag X) or in a Props.CFG file of a collection - this works both for TS and local VDK sources; however, the X-flag is preferred as it is enforced by the Tovek Server.
  
• Agent+Viewer: Prefer One Viewer setting is On by default.
  
• Agent+Viewer: It is possible to disable Open Document command, via Props.CFG file.
  
• TT Splash Screen and Status Monitor window: Both can be disabled. In case of the Status Monitor, the window is still active, but can be made to start minimized and not to pop-up for every error message.
  
• TTDK: Property of the source for detecting ViewDoc = yes/no has been changed, and two additional properties have been introduced - TextRestricted and OpenDocDisable. Different approach is needed to handle documents with restricted text; when asking for multiple documents at the same time, no changes are necessary.
  
• Setup fix: Analyst's Notebook 6.x should be correctly detected for automatic installation of the fulltext plug-in.

• Setup: New icons for setup type; registered icon for the uninstaller.
  
• Html export: Jumps in shortened document text should look better.
  
• Html export: Presence of a config file, if used, is checked in the wizard. During the actual export, if cfg file is missing, report will not fail but will use the defaults instead and will write a comment into the output html file.
  
• Xml export: Fix for multiple empty lines, for queries such as "Windows CE".
  
• Xml export: Fix for codepage 1252 - this would prevent the report from completion.
  
• Tovek Server: Possible to override the Company value sent in packets to the server.

• Html/Xml reports are launched by a shared command in the Tools menu or by Ctrl+T shortcut.
  
• Report IDs for Repeat Last Export (Ctrl+R) were extended and modified.
  
• Html reports has been updated. Hidden result list columns - zero width - are not exported. Two columns usually containing longer texts, Abstract and VDK Features, are shown differently in report's TOC. URLs are detected from the document text and will open links in separate windows.
  
• Html report can include list of hilited words from the actual document. Possible to write "shortened" document text - it is done by including only the hilited words and a specified number of characters preceding and following the hilites. If there is a part of URL that will be cut this way, the URL caption will be modified but the actual link will contain the full URL.
  
• Html report supports InfoRating analysis directly; this feature requires InfoRating licence.
  
• InfoRating and Query Editor: File/Save IR-TXT command added for saving data files with queries used in InfoRating analysis in Html report.
  
• Query Editor: when saving a new OTL file, default file name based on the root of the tree is suggested.
  
• Fulltext Plug-in for Analyst's Notebook included both for AN 5.x and AN 6.x.
  
• Fulltext Plug-in: Matching queries against documents is done using InfoRating/profiling. It is much faster; it's user-selectable (default is on); but it requires a licence for InfoRating. In future it will be done only this way so the InfoRating licence will be needed for the fulltext plug-in as well.
  
• Agent: There is a Ctrl+Shift+D shortcut (command not available from any menu) to open the folder containing document selected in the result list. Opening is performed by Windows shell; if multiple documents are selected, only the folder of the first selected document is opened.

• Index Manager: New Source Wizard offers only sources available for the current licence.
  
• Indexing of files and e-mail attachments: Possible to override the default list of extensions.
  
• Filters: Recent versions of WordPerfect added, both in OLE and non-OLE files (filter TF_OLE.dll and TF_STD1.dll.) WP 5.1 is not supported. WPD extension added to the list of default extensions.
  
• Filters: Conversion from Unicode to collection locale/CP is performed - a change mainly for OLE and XML files in Russian (CP 1251.) Also the Euro symbol conversion has been added.
  
• Filters: Fixed memory leak in OLE filters. Added reading until the end of file in suspicious OLE docfiles (probably written by WP.) Please use the latest version of TF_OLE.dll in any server installation.
  
• Agent: Shift+Hide Viewed Docs marks selected documents as viewed.
  
• Agent fix: Edit/Paste from Query Editor no longer hangs the Agent.
  
• Viewer fix: First search in the doc text has not been selecting the found word.
  
• Query Editor: The latest build included in installation.
  
• TTAP Version Info: Query Editor, InfoRating, and LNP all have updated version info.
  
• Remote Search: Fixed the usage of backlash in searches against older versions of the Tovek Server.
  
• When connecting Tovek Server and there are no sources attached, an error log message is shown because this usually indicates some kind of problem.
  
• TVK_C_DATE field (file date) is converted to date format. Otherwise the Agent setting for presenting dates did not work when this field was used in the result list.

• K2 connector built on VDK 4.01. Tovek Tools will probably not work with K2 test servers based on version 3.x.
  
• K2 Clustering works.
  
• K2 List of hilited words works.
  
• View Multiple Documents, a new type of export: standard in the UI.
  
• Extract Adjacent Words, a new type of export: in UI now as well; works even in Russian, and it's possible to add other codepages.
  
• Text Export fix: First shows the dialog box and then does the export.
  
• New command: Repeat Last Export. Works only if the last export has finished ok; state is also remembered when tt is shut down and then started again.
  
• Html Export - redone; real hilites on NN and MSIE (at least); has dialog box with options; uses Unicode/UTF8 if necessary; possible to slightly customize - header, footer, hilite marks - either with empty value, value taken from a file (specified as a absolute or relative path), or direct html code (less than 255 characters long.)
  
• New output codepage/UTF8 settings for XML and HTML exports.
  
• All export commands with dialog boxes end with "..." in the menu; if Ctrl is held down, last options will be used for given export and no dialog box will be shown.
  
• MultiLang Query - ok to enter/paste Russian etc., but only in the Ctrl+M dialog, not in the main query edit box.
  
• Agent: Copying of result list and the list of hilited words from Document Info dialog box is done also in Unicode.
